Acta Materialia Hollomon Award for Materials and Society Award

This is an international award presented by Acta Materialia, Incorporated in memory of J. Herbert Hollomon, principal instigator of the journal Acta Metallurgica. Nominations may be submitted through TMS.

This award recognizes an outstanding contributor to the interactions between materials technology and societal concerns and consists of a steuben glass sculpture, a certificate, and a cash honorarium.

This award is considered a pinnacle award.

In addition, the Sponsoring Societies’ annual Materials and Society lecturer (TMS/ASM Joint Distinguished Lectureship in Materials and Society Award) will be an automatic nominee for this award.

Criteria

  1. Outstanding career contributions to understanding of the relations between materials technology and societal interests;
  2. Contributions to materials technology that have had major impact on society.

How to Nominate

Submission Deadline:
December 31 of each year.

Nominations should be submitted to the Acta Materialia Executive Secretary, Carolyn Hansson, as a single file document preferably in PDF or Word format.
