Offer for Ukrainian Members

TMS is currently offering complimentary membership to any otherwise eligible materials science and engineering professional living in—or in temporary refuge outside of—Ukraine. An impacted individual may apply by contacting membership@tms.org

Am I Eligible for Professional Membership?

Professional membership is designed for any individual who is actively involved with materials science, materials engineering, and/or applications. To be considered a full member of the society, a candidate must hold a baccalaureate degree from a recognized university in metallurgy, metallurgical engineering, materials science, materials engineering, or another science or engineering discipline related to the field or the candidate must have at least five (5) years of experience and be a practicing professional in materials science and engineering or a closely related field. If you do not meet these requirements, you can still apply for professional membership and participate in TMS as an associate member. Associate members have access to all of the same benefits and opportunities as full members.

Am I Eligible for Retired/Senior Membership?

Retired and Senior membership levels are reserved for members with 20 to 30+ years of membership in the Society. Learn more about these membership categories designed for our most loyal members.

Am I Eligible for International e-Membership?

TMS offers low-cost, reduced-benefit International e-Memberships to individuals who live outside of the United States and Canada and who work in materials science and engineering or related fields. Learn more about this electronic-only membership option for qualified individuals.

Has Your Membership Lapsed?

Members who may have allowed their dues to lapse may be reinstated into the same membership grade as when they left by submitting a new application and paying the current dues. If the applicant wishes to have the original year of joining TMS reflected, back dues must be paid to date (half the annual dues for each year of lapsed membership); otherwise, the membership year will be the year of reinstatement.

Dealing with a Setback in Your Career?

Contact the TMS Membership Team if job loss, employer funding cuts, or other issues are preventing you from paying your TMS membership dues. We can provide a temporary economic hardship membership that allows you to access TMS resources at no cost during this phase of your career.
